BMW 3 Series F31 - Standard Diesel Vs Premium Diesel (Tescos Version) - Lloydyboy

I have the B-Tool app for my 330d with a V-Link Bluetooth ODB2 adapter as out of curiosity wanted to see what goes on regarding regeneration as I always use additives in the diesel fuel so wanted to see if they actually work.

I use the oilem hybrogen at the moment (have used Archoil and Hydra products to but not tested those through the app yet).

I always use tesco diesel as its the cheapest near me so used this with the hybrogen.

I do long runs every week (Anglesey and back around 145miles each way with mainly A roads and about 30ish miles of dual carriageway).

Having monitored the dpf cycle, i managed to get 315 miles before it regenerated.

On my next fill up, I decided to try the tesco version of the Vpower diesel to see if this makes any difference (with hybrogen).

Having driven back last Friday afternoon and having the app monitoring the whole way I can confirm the mileage since the last regeneration is way higher at 450miles (and still climbing) which could be a good indication that the premium diesel does actually make a difference. Must stress all driving habits are the same on each test, eco mode 99% of the journey with the odd flick into comfort for an overtake. Any others undertaken similar tests? The proof seems to be there that the premium diesel is cleaner.

Honest John swears by it. Ive tried both shell and bp but not noticed any significant difference in the performance but that doesn’t mean its not cleaning etc

I think one example of each isn't anywhere near an accurate test. Who knows what other factors could affect the result, such as air temperature, humidity, weather, etc.

I've just done a regular run up the A1 and used much less fuel than usual because of the proliferation of 'elephant racing' and 40MPH, temporary speed limits.

I will continue to monitor going forward to get a better idea and also use the other additives to see if that makes any difference. Regards the weather, tests were a week apart and the difference in air temperature fluctuates around 4 degrees at most between both so probably not substantial enough to equate to the 135mile and counting increase

I've noticed a slight increase in eagerness from the engine but don't really drive the car that hard to be honest Certainly seems to be a significant difference though in the amount of soot produced. :-)
