Hi

Any advice on how to get NextBase to replace a camera that screen failed on after 15 months?

Warranty is 12 months.

Modern electronics should last longer.

I remember reading about batteries vs capacitors and NextBase replaced cameras.

Thanks

Who did you buy it from? Nextbase don't sell direct to retail customers.

If you bought it using a credit card use your section 75 protection to get a refund if the retailer won't help you.

In October 2015, the new Consumer Rights Act became law and it replaced the 1979 Sale of Goods Act, Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations and the Supply of Goods and Services Act.
The item should be fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality, which in your case it clearly isn’t. Complain to the retailer you bought it from quoting this (you may have to write to them) and see what happens. Hopefully you still have proof of purchase.

Good advice from Ian D. I wish I had pursued this line with my dash cam. I bought it through a fitting agent for Silent Witness. No instructions at all, you are expected to go online. It has a weird programme you have to download to be able to play back the recording on a laptop. I could not understand any of this so I opted for an SD card. The thing never really seems to work very well and I am never sure if it is operational or not. Also every few weeks the camera needs to be re-formatted. This is not an easy operation, most times I finally manage it more by luck than judgement. Piece of over complicated crap really and I would never recommend one to anyone. However two years down the line may be stretching it to lodge a complaint. Suffice to say it stays in the car when it goes back and I will get a much simpler model next time, probably with some help from the forum.

Cheers Concrete

Those were fitted in our lorry fleet Concrete, half the time when footage was needed the things proved not to be recording from one of more of the lenses, and moving registrations apparently proved almost impossible to read, one would expect better considering the high cost, as you say you never know with the sequence of the 4 different coloured twinkling lights whether the thing is working or not, another make is now being rolled out.

Thankfully mine was working when someone ran into me on a roundabout, but it wouldn't have mattered even if the third party hadn't admitted fault (they did) because i fortunately had an unquestionable indy witness.

For our own use i shall stick with Transcends, several of which are in family service all reliable so far after a number of years use, i have a cheaper make in the rear of my car too which is also working well, the Transcends prove easy to operate with screen and menu big enough to see with ageing eyes including playing back and editing footage on the camera itself, i needed a new sd card recently in mine, that's all that has gone wrong with any of them.
