On these engines you might want to check the fuel filter first if you dont have a error code. A few years ago came across a 1.6 diesel that had no code, no fuel delivery issue but wouldn't start, but would crank. Couldn't fix it and it wasn't my car. The guy who owned the car is a former buddy of mine and didn't seem to want to tell me what the actual fix was. He told me that the ECU needed a reboot or something like that wich i think is crap. Get a good diagnostic tool, Delphi seemd to work good on these cars with detailed data. Maybe your fix is way more simple If you just do a scan.
