Hyundai ix20 Kia Venga - Automatic transmission - wantstolearn

I don't do enough miles to make mpg a priority. Whilst there have been numerous threads about autos this is specific to two cars. Not essential but long term I would prefer auto. Budget not to exceed 11,000 pounds. Some have 4 speed automatic transmission and some e 6 speed. What are the advantages, disadvantages of different number ?

Better economy and refinement with lower revs at speed. Downside is that some conventional autos with too many gears can hunt up and down ratios. If you’re not doing many miles it’s not really a worry though.
