Skoda Fabia - Faulty door seal causing leaks - Jord88

Evening all

Just looking for some advice, have scoured YouTube but haven't found much

The door seal on the back passenger door is completely kaput. The section is the bit that goes along the top of the door before heading down the rest of the door. I noticed it about 6 months ago, have tried to fix it with some gorilla glue but didn't do a very good job. Now all the rain is seepibg in and settling in the back passenger footwell.

This a quick simple fix that someone could give some advice on?

The area is in the above photo

Thanks for your help folks!

Not a lot you can do . If it is damaged you will need to replace it . It is very easy to renew .. It is push fit onto the metal body flange . As a temporary fix, remove it from the door frame and refit the seal with the damaged part at a different position , possibly at the bottom

If it's anything like the weatherstrips I have played with, it will just pull off the flange which runs all round the door opening. Start at the join, which should be at the lowest point (makes sense?), and either replace it with a new length, or as elekie says, fit it in a different position where the leak is less serious (temporary fix) as the join may let water in somewhere else.

Very common on VAG models, my own Polo has worn seals on both front doors but fortunately neither allows water in so I’ve yet to be motivated enough to fit new ones. As already said, it’s an easy fix.

Thank you for the replies! I've got a 5 m adhesive rubber seal strip from Amazon, will give it a go on the weekend if it ever stops raining!

I don't know how universal aftermarket weatherstrip is, I do know they vary between different cars. Hope yours fits; make sure to shove it firmly into the corners, and don't cut to length until it's all in place. Those corners will have shaped the old strip, so moving that to a new position is not likely to be effective long-term.

EDIT - original weatherstrip is not usually adhesive in my limited experience, it's what you could call a rubber interference-fit.

This is a site I've used for quite a few bits - worked well with delivery to the UK. Select Fabia and put door seal in the search box:- www.skoda-parts.com/

Coincidentally I was looking at this site for window rubbers for my L200 truck top before coming on here.

Blimey Woolies - I remember this place from way back when I was restoring cars and building a kit car. Takes me right back.....

Was a catalogue and phone up job back then.
