Vauxhall Astra H mk5 2008 - Anti roll bar bushes replacement Astra H - Richard Huddleston

Bushes £12 a pair but it looks like the subframe has to come out to get to the mounting bolts.

Is this so? Are we back to the "bad old days" of deliberately awkward designs? Or has anyone managed to access the clamps without?

And if it's a subframe-out job - how much is a garage likely to charge?

Well my times guide,

which is what I used if I'd been called for a quote

states 2.4 hours for replacement of anti roll bar bushes.

So factor in your local garage rate and you have it.

BUT referencing my previous post make sure they're faulty first!!

Thanks. This is a "process of elimination" job to identify source of "cracking" noises, elimination by cheapest fix to dearest fix.

How do I isolate worn arb bushes as the casuse? All other suspension components are new, cv joint and bearings aren't but car has only done 38k.

I find it hard to believe that suspension parts need replacing at this low mileage. Has it been clocked? Doesn't say much for Astra quality.....our 17yr old 132,000m Focus has all its original rubber, bushes and springs. Have you tried greasing the springs and their mountings?

Spray the bushes with penetrating oil.

If the noise then dissapears you've found the fault.
