toyota prius 1.8 hybrid 2010 - steering aid, 10 button lodgesons tool, - carnut1980

Hi all, most installers are quoting me round £1400 for the infra red steering aid by Lodgesons, 10 way/button .

Has anyone had this done for cheaper? I'm certain that the installer, once ordering the part, are making a decent mark up on this. It does seem a little OTT.

This unit allows the driver (disabled) to uswe indicators, horn, flashers, wipers etc, using the buttons on this device , which attaches to the steering wheel, but i don't want to pay £1400 (fitted) until i know i am getting the best value.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Sounds cheap to me. Low volume production ,hi-tech equipment is always expensive.Don't forget you are paying for the R&D as well as the equipment and installation. Perhaps you could fit it yourself? Get a workshop manual for a Prius, and see if you able to work out the circuits and the can /flex ray network to make all the required functions work.. Do you feel lucky?
