Hyundai i30 - Reconditioned i30 auto box - Craig_

My 2010 Hyundai i30 1.6 diesel auto box recently started acting up after 84,000 miles. It now needs a new/reconditioned replacement. Searching aroiund these appear to be like hen's teeth. The 'best' quote I have is £1200 for the box alone. There is one on eBay for £450 but it is for a 2016 i30.

Any recommended places to look for a box at a more reasonable price?

For a laugh I asked Hyundai how much for a new one. £3900.

Sorry to hear. If it is any comfort you have done well to get 84,000 - mine failed at 18 months & 18,000 so fortunately was warranty. At the time (having looked at Australian forums I think I recall) I suspected the issue was some control module but HUK replaced the lot. I presume you have researched Hyundai owner forums?

Recommend that you find either an auto gearbox specialist or another car - good luck!
