Hello,

I bought the above car with only 15000 miles on the clock, from my local VW dealer back in February.

From the beginning, there was a intermittent rubbing from the gearbox, from, 2nd to 3rd gear. I reported it straight away, and the dealer was very attentive. I have had several cars from them and have had excellent service!! They asked me to monitor the problem as it wasn't constant, and several weeks ago, the problem extended to the stop/start. This manifested itself in either not restarting the car, or the car was like "bucking bronco", holding up the traffic while I switched it off, and started the car up manually.

The car has been at VW for two weeks, after a diagnosis of a new clutch kit being required, I got my car back today, and for a couple of hours, all was well, until the stop/start problem returned. The gearbox is absolutely fine now, by the way.

Can anybody throw any light on what the problem is??

The garage want the car back in tomorrow.
