I have previously owned a 5 gear 1.7TD Escort Estate (up to 120,000 miles) and a Fiesta 1.4 16V Zetec Petrol driven up to 160,000 (first clutch change at 100,000, first exhaust at 130,000).
Just purchased a 20 month old 2016 Ford Focus 1,5 TDCi 6 Speed Manual with 37,000 on the clock. It is supposed to be a motorway car for work.
Drives lovely on the motorway and currently averaging 65 MPG. Plus like putting foot down when required to overtake, loving the Turbo again.
Problem, and I think it is a big one that I did not see coming. I read such bad reviews regarding the semi auto gearbox that I opted for a manual.
10 days into ownership and the car "clunks"/"knocks" in 1st, 2nd and up to 3rd gear change, Plus when putting foot down if I let the revs drop in any gear.
When the car is warming up in the morning this does not happen and when on the motorway it is perfectly fine.
Starting to pick up comments on the internet that this is possibly a known issue with the model/gearbox.
I have it booked in with the Ford dealers next week but think they will try and pull a fast one.
A) Is this a known issue (engine mount, clutch bearing etc) and I can expect this to be fixed under warrenty?
B) Will Ford take the car back if I reject it within 30 days?
