Hi all, i am in greater london, what is the best remap to get for these, and do they receive them well? Just power? I have been quoted £250, mobile remapper, adds around 35BHP over the standard 138.

Also i only have one key, are these easy to cut and program?

Cheers

Don’t think I would recommend re-map any car of this age. You will need a specialist auto locksmith to cut and program a key. Easy with the right equipment.

Agreed. Remapping an 11 year old car, with undoubtedly considerable wear on engine and components, to add over 20% to BHP is going to shorten engine life markedly.

Not a good idea unless you want to start replacing the clutch with an expensive aftermarket item that can handle more torque. This has been done and the 2.2 cdti can reliably make over 200 hp, but the standard clutch is the weak point.

Can only agree with other replies here, you’d be mad to remap an elderly car like this. It’ll weaken engine and gearbox reliability substantially and probably kill the clutch which is a weak point on these to start with.

Secondly quite why you’d need more than 251/ft of torque in a small family hatch is beyond me. It already hits 60 in under 9 secs and will hit nearly 130 in a straight line. It pulls like a train and certainly isn’t lacking in any way shape or form. If you believe you need more than this on the road than you need to rethink. If it’s a track day toy however then I wouldn’t pick a diesel to start with.

I had the clutch replaced on my 2007 Civic 2.2 type S at a Honda dealer within the warranty period in 2010. The replacement clutches have a much heavier action and grip like hell compared with the original.
