Vauxhall Corsa D - Logbook from auction - Jack thomas
Hi there, so i’ve recently won a corsa at an auction and it has the V5/Logbook with it. Now i’m competley new to cars so im not really 100% sure how the log book stuff all works. Anyway, i’m getting the car collected by a third party transporter and I was wondering how the logbook is signed off and stuff without me being present or can i send it off myself once the car is here with it? Doesn’t the auction company need to send off a slip with my name on it to confirm i brought it or do i just need to send off the relevant section stating i’m the new registered owner/keeper?

The old keeper should have filled in and sent off the yellow 'sold to trade' slip when it went to auction.

The auction house should have filled in and sent off the green 'new keeper' part on the main sheet when you bought it. They should have given you the 'new keeper' slip

What regularly happens is that neither of those happen, and you get the entire V5. In which case, fill in the 'new keeper' section on the fist page and send it off to DVLA. Make sure you keep the 'new keeper' slip from the later page though.

Wow. All these threads devoted to a 3+ yo Corsa. It must've been a very unique car go to all that effort in sourcing it from half way across the country, rather than from your local dealership or 2nd hand car lot!

Yeah Andy, i was thinking the same thing, they are not difficult cars to source locally. Even in my neck of the woods (North East Scotland), it would be easy enough to find one!.

But, for the OP, make sure and park it in such a way to make it difficult to access the front of the car. Apparently corsa's are being targeted by dodgy folk's stealing parts from them, particularly from the front, such as bumper, bonnet, lights, front wings etc. Heard a story about it on Jeremy Vine a couple of weeks ago!.
