VW Golf - Mass air flow sensor - privateinvestor

Some car co's state in service schedule periodic cleaning of air flow sensor eg Toyota. VW does not. From a preventative maintenance perspective, is it worth getting some electrical contact cleaning spray and cleaning air flow sensor?

Probably not. Modern a/f sensors are made with very sensitive components .Cleaning could damage the circuit. No harm in cleaning the connector and pins on the unit.

I'd say yes. Decent quality electrical contact cleaner in a spray can should remove any deposits and dry. The heating & cleaning process of the wires in the MAF should do the rest.

I can point you to plenty of Pug owners who do this on their MAFs with no issues.
