Toyota Celica - Potential near future clutch failure - Dazl1212

Car wouldn't go into gear. Turned ignition off , restarted and it went into gear fine but felt a bit stiff changing gear. Drove OK home after a couple of minutes. Seems fine now, did a few tests drove slowly in third and accelerated fine, no slipping.

Started car in fifth and it stalled. So clutch seems ok just based on those tests.

Could it be a random event and nothing to worry about? Its a Toyota Celica 1.8vvti had it a month but the guy i bought it off said it hadn't been used at all fo few months.

Toyota Celica - Potential near future clutch failure - Big John

A dragging clutch shows up initially in first and reverse

A slipping clutch shows up first in top gear (5th?). To test drive on a clear road at about 30mph . In top gear briefly dip the clutch and release whilst flooring the throttle. If clutch is good revs should drop back into line straight away

Hi thanks for the reply. I've not had it slip since and tried the test you kindly described and it worked as it should. I have driven about 15 miles today without issue.

Maybe just an isolated incident.
