I'm sorry, you're right. It's the sons car so I don't drive it daily.
The disengagement is an economy measure all the same.
I don't notice a sudden engagement however and takeoff is quite smooth so perhaps your issue is a higher than normal threshold for throttle triggered engagement.Perhaps there's a trigger adjustment somewhere.
Is the torque convertor takeup smooth and normal in reverse, where the disengagement is disabled?
Can you describe in greater detail how the car behaves with forward engagement triggered by the throttle? Is it a bad jerk for example?
