SEAT Leon Cupra 2002 - instrument cluster illumination not turning off - peter merry

After a new battery was fitted three weeks ago I found the instrument

cluster illumination still on when ignition was switched off. Having no access now to a Seat dealer I had a diagnostic check by a local garage which could not find a solution but mentioned that this was not an uncommon fault as revealed by online forums.

I intend to change the car in the Spring and my question is if I ignore the "problem" is there a danger that the battery (new) will discharge during that time. The car is used only for local trips now 5-10 miles a day.

I would try a battery disconnect for 5 mins ,to see if that resets the system.If not,you could try pulling the dash/instrument fuse .Permanent illumination will evetually kill the battery if the car is not used on a regular basis.
