Vauxhall Astra J - Battery Retaining Clamp - Steve H29

Hello. Trying to fit a Halfords battery to my mk6 Astra. Because the new battery is a couple of millimetres taller than the standard battery, the battery retaining clamp will not locate on the retaining nut. Hence cannot clamp battery down to the tray. Has anyone else met this problem? Surely there must be some adjustment somewhere? But I can’t see it. Any help would be appreciated.

Realistically,if the battery will not fit correctly,you got the wrong battery.Have you tried a Vauxhall dealer,they are usually cheaper than H********?

Had a similar experience with a Halfords battery for my Mazda - slightly narrower & 1.5 cms lower - I fixed it by inserting small wooden blocks & clamping the battery down - passed it's MoT OK about 3/4 weks later.

In your case take it back as "Not suitable" for your car.
