VW Touareg - 8 month old car new/used parts for warranty repair - RT

I have a 8 month-old VW Touareg, bought new, now done 7,000 miles. The panoramic sunroof has developed a leak and needs replacing. The dealer carrying out servicing/warranty work for me isn't the selling dealer - but they want to fit a complete re-manufactured sunroof under warranty.

At such a young age, do I have to accept a re-manufactured replacement or can I insist on a new component?

The car was bought after 1st October 2015 so the new Consumer Rights Act applies and I'm aware I can demand a refund if this fault occurs again after repair.

I'd push VW to supply a new roof rather than a re-manufactured part. Explain to the dealer that you aren't happy for such a repair to be carried out to such a new vehicle (put this in writing, and explain that you want the reply in writing too), and ask them to take the matter up with VW GB (or just go direct to VW GB).

Regarding your last paragraph (CRA) I think you'll find you are wrong. The right to reject and obtain a refund only lasts for 6 months - and even within 6 months, cars are specifically listed as being subject to reductions in the refund amount for 'fair use'.

Thanks for that, I'll push for a new assembly, rather than re-manufactered.

I understand about any refund being subject to reduction for fair use, but I understood that the new Act removed the right of manufacturers to repeat the same repair a number of times in the case of a manufacturing defect - which this surely is.
