Shogun Power Steering - tpac
I have a Mitsy Shogun 2.8TD 1998 facelift model, its covered 72k and up until today has caused me no probs. The warrenty has not long since expired so on its last service 400 miles ago I thought I would go to an independant garage for the service and save a few bob (I didn\'t though, was still £400!!). All seemed fine but today I was approaching a small roundabout and went to signal right, It appeared to have problems signalling, it felt stiff but it later appeared it just was not coming on. I thought \"right just get round the roundabout with no signal and sort the problem later\". I started steering and straight away noticed the steering was heavy, it was obvious I had lost the power steering, got it off the roundabout, turned the radio off and it became apperent the engine was not running! This explains the loss of inicators and the loss of PST, the gear lever was still in Drive (auto).
I have played about with the car on my drive, cant find a problem now.... any ideas??

Assuming the engine hasn't seized (!), as it's all mechanical injection check the fuel cut-off solenoid, as this has to be powered to let the engine run. Are you sure the alarm hasn't gone into alarm mode and cut the engine?

Thanks for the reply..

Funny you should say that, 5 minutes prior to that happening I opened the car up by the remote key pad, put my littl-un in the back, belted her up, got in the drivers seat expecting to press the key pad as you have 20 seconds to start the car after opening it. Funny thing was, the red immobaliser light was not on, so it was a swift engine start, and I thought as pulling away...."surely that took me more than 20 seconds, why did the immob not kick in?". When everthing cut out 5 minutes later at the roundabout, to restart it I put it in P and tried to re-start, I had to de-activate the immob to get it started, on that occasion I thought "surely the ignition was not off for 20 seconds!".
Perhaps it is what you say, if so I have never heard of it, how can I make sure it dont happen again?
