Nissan Almera Petrol - 2004 Nissan Almera Fuel Leak Problem - jack13

I have a 2004 Nissan Almera when I put petrol in at the station it leaks from the Rubber Hose that connects the tank with the filler arm..

The Rubber hose looks ok but petrol runs out out the end joint even after I put a new Jubilee clip on it..

I was wondering if this was a pressure related problem or something similar as the hose was out on really tight and the petrol still managed to leak..

there don't seem to be any leaks in the pipe work just the leaking from the end joint...any suggestipn or help would be appreciated...

Quite possibly the end of the hose has perished with age. Everything might look fine, but the structure of the hose may be failing.

Well I have had the hose off and it looks fine I have another one ordered from Nissan plus two new OM Clips..I will try that if leaking after that it must be forcing it out some how through kind of venting somehow...anyone heard of this before..

It is more likely that the filler neck has rusted through somewhere if it only happens when you fill up with fuel. There are two pipes, the main one and a smaller one to allow air to escape the tank during filling.

Those pipes pass over the N/S rear wheel where they get loads of crud thrown at them. I had an Almera and made a point of hosing the muck off those pipes whenever I washed the car. It would collect to quite a depth on top, making a lovely poultice.

I wouldn't be surprised if the problem's corrosion.

The problem is and I have been under the car while it is being filled is with the rubber hose the first clip that connects the tank with the filler pipe..

It is coming out the end of the hose quite bad and as said earlier I have examined the hose and pipe and all seems ok...

Is there something like I said that can push the petrol back through the pipe at the same time filling tank like venting or pressure..of course when you have finish fueling there is no problem...

I am thinking that the connection of the pipe with a proper Jubilee clip not a cheap copy was not enough to secure the pipe tight enough because if you saw the OM Clips they are very strong and heavy duty and have a bolt in the middle of the clip that tightens 2 strong wire up at the same time..

It looked so simple to fix when first thought but it as turned out to be a bit of a nightmare...
