Partners 21 year old son want a lease car for 2 years, any suggestions on suitable companies to approach (price is imperative) and any pitfalls for this category to look out for?

Many thanks

Has the boy been driving long, got some NCB etc etc?

A few people I know have gone on to "give their son/daughter "a good start in motoring" only for it to come crashing around them - literally. It might be better if this is a 1st car to buy something cheapish and let them learn what driving life is about.

Unless the boy has a rock solid employment history they will be forced to pay very high rates of interest OR the leasing company might want a guarantor as well.

The neighbour opposite has just signed on the bottom line for his step grandson - the company wanted a "house owner" to sign not the parents who are tenants. (I know this as I had to witness my neighbour signing the forms.)

I suggest before anything an insurance quote is obtained and the fact its a lease car is highlighted. I would be very surprised if the monthly insurance cost is less than the lease cost.

Thanks useful tips, he has no NCB or experience and is rather headstrong (worringley).

Agree with the cheap car route, his insurance quote is coming in at £980 p.a which doeant seem too bad.

It may be better to look at one of the 'just add fuel' schemes.

One of my employers had a Toyota MR2 on a similar scheme for his son years ago and it worked out cheaper than if they'd bought the car and tried to insure it themselves.
