Ford Fiesta Mk4 D - heater variable control fail - David-H

Hi,

I bought this old fiesta with no heater control valve in (someone had by-passed it with 2 bits of Alu tubing). I have since put new one in and replaced the resistor. Now I get hot air blowing when electrics disconnected from HCV and cold when connected but cannot bloomin' get variable heat.

I dont know where to go next .. any help would be grateffully recieved.

D.

Easy way to check.Wire a bulb across the 2 pin connector at the heater valve. With engine running you should see a variation in illumination frequency/pulse from max brightness at cold to zero at hot.If this is not the case, then the heater control panel is suspect.Amazingly expensive from Ford, about £300.So s/hand will be your option.

dude thanks, i did the test and found full bulb brightness on all positions of temperature control dial. Do you rekon this conclusively indicates fault with dash controls? Thanks for your help, really good. D.

Does look like the dash panel is in trouble.
