Corsa C - ACEA C3 Oil - Haydn24

Just wondering, with some oils that say "C3" on the front whether they cover A3/B3 aswell? Asking because I want to do an oil change soon for my corsa (2003) which needs A3/B3

Where oils cover more than one ACEA grade, they say so - eg ACEA-A1, C2.

You'll need to check labels or specifications if online.

Well I ordered online and collected at euro car parts. On every website (RAC, ECP, etc) it says the oil is A3/B3/C3, however on the bottle it just says C3. It's Petronas Synthium 5000 AV by the way

Could have got GM dexos 2 5/30 on line or from main dealer for less.And it is 5 litres.

Says C3 on the bottle, but then also says suitable for A3/B3 under the description/specifications on that page, and other sites where it is sold (Halfords). On the back it mentions the Dexos 2 specification which is the new GM-LL-A-025 (AFAIK) so I assume it would be suitable for my corsa?

Yep it says that online, but no mention of A3/B3 on the bottle which just makes me worried. Probably just being overparanoid because it says A3/B3 on every site it's listed on

C3 is a Low SAPS spec for diesel cars fitted with DPF's.

Most oils cover multiple specs, look on the bottle. I have a couple of 5 litres of C3 spec oil in the shed and both cover other specs including VW, BMW, MB but neither cover GM or have ACEA specs.

If the spec for your car is not shown do not use it.

The labels are there for a reason.

The Castrol 5w30 C3 which I linked mentions vauxhall and the GM/dexos spec, whereas the petronas doesnt. So I'll take the Petronas back and pick up that castrol for about £22

What engine does your Corsa have?

I'm sure that Petronas had a look up tool but, can't find it now, I can only find the look up tool for Belgium now petronas-bel.lubricantadvisor.com/

If in doubt a call or email to Petronas should find the answer.

Like has been said, GM Dexos 2 is available in 5litre packs for not much money.

Just a 1.2 16V. Do you have a link for the oil you mentioned?

Also, I tried to look for that Petronas lookup tool but couldn't find it

Go to a Vauxhall dealer,get the correct oil and filter.also get a new sump plug,as this is often damaged.you will also need a good torx socket (male) to get it undone.
