Citroen Berlingo 1.6HDI 75BHP 2010 model - timing belt & tensioner change interval - fstormin

I am considering buying this used van that has 92,000 miles on the clock. When should the belt, pulleys & tensioner be changed as I have not inspected the owners service book.

Generally the renewal interval for the Hdi belt is 100k so I certainly wouldn't leave it longer than this.

These topics have been done to death. Personally I think mileage is irrelavent, and cambelts should be renewed and servicing carried out on a common sense basis. Every car is different, every driver is different, and every set of circumstances is different. So why would it make sense for servicing and maintenance to be the same for all?

Well its either due soon or now, might be an idea to try and negotiate it as part of the contract to buy, no joy? i'm sure there's other vans for sale.

Any reason? Was it the original? Were there any warning sounds (although diesels are so noisy you might not have heard a failing bearing) or smells (friction burning of belt slipping over a seizing tensioner pulley)? Modern belts don't 'just break'.

And whichever comes soonest.

I've seen some disgustingly poor service intervals on some cars because the owner didn't read this and it was upto 4 YEARS between oil changes because they didn't do the mileage.
