LDV Maxus '56 3.2 95 SWB - LDV Maxus '56 3.2 95 SWB problems - flymcg

Hello all,

I have an LDV Maxus SWB 56 plate with 88k on the clock.

Its been mostly fine however, today when driving along in third i took my foot off the pedal and it kept accelerating. I knocked it into neutral and the engine kept reving. The problem is intermittent.

Got to the top of a hill and the engine cut out. Restarted fine though. Sounds like an even bigger bag of spanners now though.

Oil light came on and the battery light has been flickering on off for a few days.

Im no mechanic, accelerator pedal isnt sticking, battery terminals all secure. Sounds like a possible sensor issue...

Finding a garage with a diag machine for an LDV is proving difficult.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

If its done any ammount of mileage it could be running on sump oil, the vapour gets sucked into the air intake from the breather system. If its turbo it could also be the seals failing allowing it to suck oil.

Totally agree with Peter above.

If it is running on engine oil you need to check your oil level ASAP or your repair bill may suddenly get much bigger.
