Suzuki grand vitara 2.0d 2001 - Code p1138 fuel pressure sensor - Tibb65
Engine management light on with fault code p1138 relating to the fuel pressure sensor, replaced the pressure sensor and had light reset but after a few kms light came on again with same fault code. The garage suggested a possible wiring problem somewhere bur not specific. Can anyone help me before i spend a fortune on an auto electrician that i may not need ?

You have a code of P1138 which you say relates to the fuel pressure sensor. You replaced the sensor and the problem still exists. Has it not occurred to you that you may have a fuel pressure issue, hence the code relating to the fuel pressure sensor? The ECM receives information from the fuel pressure sensor (and others). It has no way of knowing if the sensor is reporting accurately or not.

Thankyou for your suggestion, i may sound thick but do you have any further suggestions as to what to check next please ?

Fuel filter change may be a good place to start.

If you need to check out the fuel pressure sensor which has a 3 terminal plug marked 1-2-3 at key on must have 5v's on terminal marked 3. At terminal 2 key on voltage should read 0.5v's. terminal 1 is the ecu earth terminal

The corresponding ecu pin no's for above are Terminal 1ecu pin no b42

Terminal 2 ecu pin no b43.

terminal 3 ecu pin no b44

A better diagnostic showing live data might help - you should be able to read electrical current and fuel pressure at several places in the fuel system.

PSA engine right?

Only time I've had fuel pressure sensor faults on these is a direct result of metal contamination from the break up of the H/P pump internals.

So my question is how much metal particles are sitting in the base of the fuel fliter chamber?

Take the fuel filter element out and look.

And an injector leak back test would be a good idea.
