Audi A4 - Automatic and Four Wheel Drive - Glaikit Wee Scunner {P}

An elderly gentleman I know asks if one can buy an Audi Quattro automatic ?

Not obvious from the HJ forum or Audi data.

The prospective purchaser has mobility issues and neither he nor his wife want a large 4 x 4.

Any other suggestions- Subaru perhaps

Yes most definately Subaru, but suggest he sticks with petrol, think you have to come very new to get a Diesel auto even if its available at all.

Far too many Diesel Subarus for sale as spares/repair with engine problems for my liking, some as low as 80k miles. Last time i looked i found 4 for sale needing attention, from knocking to absolutely wrecked, another engine i shall avoid.

If he's a new car buyer who will sell when warranty expires then it's not his problem unless this starts to affect used values.

AFAIK, yes the Audi's are available with 4wd and automatic - on later models it's mostly the DSG auto rather than conventional torque converter type - not everyone's favourite autobox.

The new Subaru Outback launches March 5th the old model had 4wd/diesel/automatic for about the last 18 months so only recently available with diesel/auto.

The Vauxhall Insignia Country Tourer (estate) is available with 4wd and automatic.

Raised suspension can be helpful for the elderly getting in and especially out - I hate getting out of normal cars as they're "so low".

New Mondeo is available with 4wd as of last week.
