Vauxhall Vectra B - Intermittent Electrical/Ignition fault - Tracemars

Hi I have a 1999 Vectra. After you have removed ignition key the dash board lights come on, sometimes straight away and sometimes hours later. I have discovered if I flick the wiper stick it turns the dash lights off, (for a while).

One time after I removed key the engine carried on running, until I flicked wiper stick. And the wipers were going on there own during the middle of the night. Hence running battery down.

It has only recently started to do this and it isn't all the time just every now and again. It has been to an auto electrician and he could find anything wrong, but it wasn't doing it then.

Can anyone help please? Could it be the ignition barrel at fault?

Check for any broken earth wires around the engine bay and under the dash. Make sure you check the earth on the wiper motor too.
