2001 Focus 1.6 ghia - Throttle position sensor maybe? - Markb03

Right my 2001 Focus 1.6 ghia is being an teenager again and throwing a sulk.

The revs are being erratic again or idling at 1k.

In the past year I have changed the breather hose, icv, ht leads, plugs, speed sensor (Twice) and coil.

Please help. Getting frustrated now.

I am to believe it may be an issue with the TPS as this may cause similar issues with the idle. There is no EML on or any errors reporting with my scanning device.

Any help would be great.

Thank you

Forget the TPS. They hardly ever go wrong, and they can be checked very easily with a voltmeter in any case. Probe the signal wire and check for increasing and decreasing voltage as you open and close the throttle gently. You should read between 0.5v and 4.5v from fully open to fully closed. Any sudden drop in voltage could indicate a break in a track.

I'd concentrate your efforts more on either a vacuum leak or a dirty idle speed control valve.

So basically just going over what I have bought. I suppose things can break so yeah I will be having a look tomorrow.

Thank you.
