Hi

I bought 118d 2008 model from a garage on 20-Dec-2014 in Nueneaton(Warwickshire).

1) As per advertisement this car comes with multi CD changer, I asked the guy on the day of purchase , he said yes, but couldn't test, after I came home found that is single CD system,

2) I found the cigarette lighter socket doesn't work, took to a local garage thinking this could be a fuse problem and found that , not fuse and more to it.

3) This garage guy sold me ,with warranty of 12 mths, till now, I haven't recieved the warranty papers, every time I Call him , he says he is not in office.

I sent email reg these points , but no reply.

What kind of legal or any action I can take, please advice.

Andy

Not having a CD multichanger is not a warranty issue, its a missrepresenation.

Cannot see how a cigarette socket can be complicated.

But you must allow the seller to sort the issues before getting them sorted elsewhere.

Question I ask are:

How essential is it to have a CD multichanger? Even if it is essential is it worth getting into a dispute over something you could/should have checked yourself before purchase.

Have you anything in writing at all about the warranty.

If you cannot get the garage to answer your questions I would suggest you write to them via registered mail (with signature required) asking them to sort the issues within a reasonable (state time eg 2 weeks) timescale or you will be taking legal advice.

Well CD changer is not important, but advert mis-represenataion, cos that would reduce some price off the original price.

As he is 150 miles away from my home, I thought that cigarette lighter can be checked locally. But stopped repair on that, as I thought of informing this to garage and get it sorted instead of me paying for this.

Warranty, yes , his invoice contains the wording that, car comes with warranty.

Since a pre-existing problem (Cigerette lighter) it may not be covered in any warranty

Any warranty may have 'customer' standard charge

There is unlikely to be any sale price differential for a car haveing multi cd changer and one with a single cd, its simply a 'bonus item' - A different matter if buying new or high value car

Price difference between single and multi CD on a 7 year old car is probably about £0.50

As to the lighter, this could be determined a fault and it is probably because a phone kit has been removed in the past and not reconnected or similar. Whether it is worth a 300 mile roundtrip for it or just get someone locally to try and fix it and take a hit on the cost is down to whether you can be bothered and how much it would cost.
