Ford Focus 1.6 Petrol 02 plate - Poor connection on fuel pump - wooliewoo
I've had an intermittent starting fault for a few weeks now.

The history:
1 month ago started fine, went to work, parked up for a few hours, went back to car, wouldn't start. AA managed to bump start it out of the multi story car a park then diagnosed battery required replacing. Replaced battery same day, all seemed fine for a further 2 weeks. Then similar thing, car was parked up for a couple of hours, then wouldn't start. AA checked battery, all good there, eventually got it started by applying pressure to the fuel pump feed plug under the rear seats. Diagnosed possible loose connection or damaged connection. Another 2 weeks have gone by, car starting fine, then yesterday parked up for 30 mins, car wouldn't start. Fidled with fuel pump feed plug, no joy eventually managed to bump start it. Got home, 2 hrs later, won't start.

So, is it the fuel pump? Fuel pump connector or something else? If it's the connector can just the connector be repaired/replaced or is it a whole new fuel pump? And can it be easily done or does it require a mechanic?

Obviously it's an old car so don't really want to be spending a lot of money on it if I can help it.

All help & advice greatly appreciated.

It could be the connector onto the pump that causes this problem.Seen it many times. It is repairable with new pins ,but access requires the fuel tank to be dropped down. There is no way in under the back seat.
