Renault Master DCi 120 2500 2004 - Indicator stuck on - Camerart

Hi,

My van indicator is stuck on. I've stripped and cleaned the Stalk, I think it's ok. I've checked and cleaned the rear light clusters and checked the earth, ok. Do you know it the ECU could be involved? :(

Cheers, Camerart.

If these don't have seperate relays then quite possibly... :( indeed

Is it all of them on one side, lit up permanently (No flashing)? Hard to be totally sure from the description

Try disconnecting all the light clusters and see if the indicator tell-tale lamp goes off. A faulty or wrong bulb could be the cause. Have you recently replaced any bulbs?

The indicators/hazard lights are controlled electronically by the body control module. There are no flasher relays. This is situated behind the fusebox,up by the steering column.May be worth disconnecting the battery for 5 mins to see if the fault clears.Does the van have an aftermarket alarm system fitted?

Flashing as if I was truning left permanently.

Cleaned and checked the rear light clusters.

I've tried disconnecting the battery, no change.

In order to check the 'body control module. Do I unscrew the screws, and manipulate it into view (It's tight)

Thanks Camerart.

It's a tight squeeze between the steering column. When yiu do get access, check for any water damage/ingress.I think you will find this is a coded unit and contains some immobiliser info.

Do these have a BSI reset procedure like Pug/Cit vehicles elekie?

I'm a bit worried about this possible immobilising reset procedure. I'm hoping that as long as I don't touch anything with a chip on it, I will be ok.

Just off out to find out. (Start the tow truck!!)

Does anyone know which of the 4x relays controls the indicators

Large one bottom left, small one bottom right, small one top left, small one top right?

Camerart.

As I previously mentioned, the indicators/hazards are not controlled by relays. All these functions are controlled electronically by the body control module that is attached to the side of the fuse box. There are 2 large multi pin connectors on the side with lock down securing bars.

I've removed the BCM and traced the signal from the indicator stalk to one of the ICs, so if this has gone faulty, Im stuck. It looks as though I need a new one and have it programmed :(

Hi,

I'm getting worried that if I 'pop' something in the BCM, the van could be immobilised, so I'm taking the van for a diagnostic check tomorrow. A quote for new BCM and program £335.

:( Camerart.

I had a diagnostic check, and it pointed to the indicator stalk or somewhere near.

I checked the stalk and found the indicator contacts L/R and GND. I found a slight resistance on the 'L' connector. I stripped the Stalk cleaned it with circuit cleaner and hey presto, fixed.
