I took my car for a Gold Service which included a valet. When I went to collect it, the car was barely hoovered. The guy who brought the car over to me, kept thrusting the key in my hand hoping I would drive off. I complained to the manager that my car had not been given a thorough valet as was stated when I booked my car. He promised to have it cleaned and returned my car back the following day. That was in April.
Six months on, I turned my rear windscreen demister when I noticed only one strip working. Spoke to my neighbour who rebuilds cars and sells them on. He told me that the rear windscreen had been scrubbed thoroughly and damaged when cleaned.
I took my car back to the Renault franchise dealer who had it service. He disagreed that his team member had damaged the heater. He said I should contact the Renualt customer services and complain about premature burning of the element. My 2007 car has very low mileage around 18,000m. The Renualt customer services informed me that it was wear and tear and they are not responsible. They did however negotiated a 10% lower charge for replacement with the Renault Franchise. This does not help because it still cost £210 which I can't afford at the moment.
I have windscreen cover, so called Autoglass after explaining that there wasn't any crack in the windscreen, jus the rear heaters were damaged. A guy turned up and left immediately refusing to do the job saying it wasn't cracked or broken.
I have legal cover with the car insurance company. Do I take the Renault franchise dealer to court bearing in mind it would be difficult to prove?
Are there any Renault Clio owners who have had premature burning of rear windcreen demisters? Is it a common fault?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
