My neighbour has a 13 year old VW bora/jetta 20 diesel which runs quite well, and has the usual glitch of the abs light coming on intermittently, and is disinclined to fix it due to the age of the car and cost, although using this forum have pointed him in the way of fixes.

But what surprised him most was his garage pointing out that 4 new tyres would not go amiss before the mot. car is annually properly serviced before mot.

So 4 new avons later and the driving of the car is transformed.

(and it passed the MOT too). no advisories.

car is a bit tatty but have advised him to hang on to it.

Apparrently more valuable as spares, good engine/gearbox/body panels bumpers and lights.

He was considering a 2009 vw passat diesel till i pointed him at this and other forums.
