Peugeot 307 CC - Peugeot 307 cc 2.0 pet faults..... please help :-( - haylee202

Hi, I've owned my 2.0ltr 05 plate 307cc for five days now. I bought privately :-(. When I got it home the engine management light came on and the screen says "anti pollution fault" now the airbag lights on showing "airbag fault", at this precise moment the car is in the garage because the roof is stuck half open saying "boot mechanism not locked". I'm beyond gutted :-( oh and it leaks when it rains too :-(. I only bought it because someone wrote my car off. Anyone have any ideas???

Not much you can do, one of the perils of buying privately. You get the cars cheaper with no gaurantee or legal comeback.

You need to find a garage that is familiar with thses cars, get it fixed and hope they are the only faults.

Did you, by any chance, have the car inspected before buying it. Did you carry out an HPI check before handing over any cash. Have you got all the documentation. Did you visit the sellers home address. If the answer to any of those is no you should start worrying.

Thanks for the reply, the car was checked over, hpi check came back fine, picked up from previous owners home and have a lot of documents, not all but it is a 2005 plate. The garage it's in at the moment is going to check the alternator for the roof, apparently it needs to read at least 4.2 to have enough power to open and close it. From what I've read elsewhere , it could be a micro button? Or something like that but have no idea where that is. The exhaust is going to be checked for holes, rust and the cat too

Sorry to hear of your woes. It seems you did make an effort to do some homework on the car, but, as Skidpan says, buying privately exposes you to more risk. All you could have done in addition was to get someone who knows about cars to inspect it before you bought it.

Now you are in a position where you have paid a lot less for the car than you would have at a dealer's (I hope - you did do your homework on prices, yes?), so you will have to use that saving (hopefully not all of it) to sort out the car.

Best of luck - keep us posted.

Yes I paid a lot less than at a dealers but like I said earlier, I only bought a new one as someone wrote my car off, so I only had that payout to buy a car. I didn't want to have hp as I owned my last car and didn't want to give myself another debt. I truly am gutted, I asked the guy out right and was blatantly lied to.
The car was looked over and the roof was fine when it was tried. And there were no lights on the dash and even now it drives lovely. Hopefully I will know some more tomorrow xx wish me luck xx

It may only need a simple reset, 307's and other Pugs from this era are known for electrical issues, especially those with folding roofs or sliding doors, as noted above you'll be best finding a Pug specialist indy.

Does anyone know how to reset it?

Managed to close the roof now so at least the car can come home. We had to do it manually which surely could of been made a hell of a lot easier, I'm gonna get a whole set of Allen keys just to keep in the car!!! The roof locking screw (above the windscreen) in a little hole has been rounded off and I'm assuming this has been an ongoing problem. One of the wires in the boot seem a bit slack so we are going to get that changed.
The airbag fault was a plug that had come undone!!! That's that sorted!!! Things are looking up!!!!
The man in the garage said the engine management light is down to the EGR valve? And could possibly be fixed with a bottle of cat cleaner in a tank of fuel. Fingers crossed!!!! Oh and I think I might debadge the CC off the car lol xx

You need to get a diagnostic check done to find out what the EML is highlighting, don't just throw parts at the problem, especially if the garage tells you to - there's quite a bit of profit to be made in fitting an EGR valve.

Have a look on this map of independent Peugeot drivers & owner with diagnostic equipment which just diagnoses Peugeots, and find the person closest to you, you'll save a fortune.

The 307cc isn't a bad car. The most common roof problems are with the microswitches, especially on the boot load liner.

The garage I took the car to is a good friend and would not rip us off, he's already worked on the car for 2 days for no fee, he is as stumped as us. It has already been on a diagnostic machine which is how we knew the airbag fault was the plug under the passenger seat and that is showing the valve

Is there not a Haynes manual for a 307cc at all??? I've looked everywhere!!

Anyone suggest the best type or part number for a decent exhaust for a 307 cc?? Is it the same as a 307 one?? I need a centre silencer? The one on mine at the moment had no holes but rattles inside, I was told because it was a cheap one

What has happened (probably) is that the internal parts have fallen apart in the current exhaust section. Your best bet is to have a word with your local 'tame' mechanic who had the car in for you previously, and for them to get in an exhaust section that they are happy to fit for you. Their suppliers will be able to give them the exact part working from your VIN, whereas if there were changes in the lifecycle of the car, anything suggested on here might be wrong. Last thing you want to do is order an exhaust from a part number given on here, and then find it's the wrong one

New exhaust (silencer part) fitted, car sounding a lot better but still "missing" when cold, thinking maybe EGR valves next :-( that's what came up when plugged in, but was hoping with a new exhaust and a bottle of some cat cleaner, might have solved it. Not looking likely though :-(

There may be one, but 21st-century cars are progressively less DiY-able, as Gibbo-Wirral will probably confirm ? I don't try to change the oil and filter on my 207SW (2008) - the car's handbook doesn't even reveal how that might be possible.

Peugeot 307 CC - Peugeot 307 cc 2.0 pet faults..... please help :-( - haylee202
Yay!!!! Engine management light has gone off!!!! Seems it worked!!! No EGR valves needed!!! The car doesn't seem to like mornings though, a bit juddery for the first 3-4 mins but then fine. Coil pack maybe?

Good stuff. I wouldn't throw parts at the problem though. Live data should give some ideas where the problem lies.

As for a Haynes, they've not made one. They only recently got around to doing one for the 407, a car made ten years ago and discontinued now!

Best thing I can suggest is an email campaign to Haynes to release one.

Rough running from cold on these early 2.0 16valve engines is a known issue and is often caused by sticking hydraulic tappets.Peugeot did a rework on the camshafts and lifters to reduce the problem.Make sure the correct grade and a good quality engine oil is used.

Spoke too soon :-( the exhaust sounds like crap again, lots of pressure coming from it, and the car keeps going into limp mode. Anti pollution fault is back as well as a nifty orange eml on too :-( and where the hell are the spark plugs kept?? This is driving me insane :-(
Peugeot 307 CC - Peugeot 307 cc 2.0 pet faults..... please help :-( - haylee202
Had EGR valve changed, it was totally messed up. Now it's saying air intake manifold has a leak, having a closer look, the injectors have 2 "O" rings missing. Hopefully once there replaced it'll start running ok again. Fingers crossed!!
Peugeot 307 CC - Peugeot 307 cc 2.0 pet faults..... please help :-( - haylee202
All "O" rings replaced and running fine now!!! Even fixed the roof problem!! It was only lifting on one side, a cable connected to the boot mechanism had come away, put it back and now all is fine!!! Just in time for the rainy weather!!

Hi Hayley can you possibly help me?! My car is on my drive with the roof stuck down! I can't find decent instructions on how to close the roof manually! I've been searching for help for 24 hours but nobody is interested! I've no manual or tools but I think I've got 3/4 of the way - found cables to pull and found an Alan key to release the whatever! But now I can't figure out what to do next! I can't believe there's nothing on the web to demonstrate!? :( So desperately need some help - I've been ripped off so many times with this car already! Thank you for anything you can give me.

There's lots of advice on manually operating the roof on peugeotforums.com

Its also in the drivers handbook. I'm looking at it right now, page 116 ROOF EMERGENCY MODE

If you've lost yours you can read them online here:
