hi all hope you can give me some advise i have a customer with this expert that keeps cutting out and im getting code p0230 and p1138. looking at live data the delivered fuel pressure is failing. i have checked the pump in the tank wth direct feed and its working fine and have chased the back to the brown plastic relay next to the fuse box and on pin 4 the feed to the pump on start up i have good voltage but it steadily drops to around six voltsthen after a few minutes drops to nuthing and the car cuts. i have changed the relay still the same fault. boh relays seem to buzz slightly. i get twelve volts from the four permanant feeds. any ideas chaps???

Is it the 110bhp model with the lift pump in the tank (and no priming bulb in the engine bay)?

If so then it could be a blocked gauze filter on the pump. I've seen it on some 306s and 307s around the 120,000 mile mark.

P0230 is a very common fault, stick "Peugeot P0230" into Google and look at all the results, particularly the one from pug306.net

hi thanks for the reply. yes this is the model with pump in the tank. i cant get my head around the voltage drop though on pin 4 thats the feed to the pump. you can hear the engine note change and cough as the voltage drops and cuts when it drops below six volts. i have perfect delivered pressure on start up when i have the full voltage

I had this problem with my C5, similar engine, there is a pressure regulator on the pump held on with two screws, this has an extremely fine filter on it which can clog, its almost impossible to clean out but as some don't have the filter fitted you can grind the end off, mine is working fine now with no filter.

ok will take a look as im running low on ideas but i feel that the lack of feed to the pump in the tank is the problem. does anyone know what pin is the trigger for the multi function relay?? i have 4 permanant pin 8 and 11 for sure the other two will have to double check in the morning
