Hi there,
I am looking to start an online community and I was hoping that I could get some help and advice.
The community would give a platform for public/transparent complaints from consumers/users of public/private products or services. Although there are ways of complaining about and directly to the companies/authorities the complaints are usually dealt in private or behind closed doors. The community would be a central place for doing this and anyone could visit and read, reply to, give advice or share the particular complaint that they feel strongly about.
The idea came about recently when I was given a quote for my car insurance, the quote was £3400 for insuring a fiat punto. I have 10 years no claims, no convictions, high voluntary excess, etc but just because I live in a B9 post code my insurance premium has gone through the roof. Now, who do I complain to, no one, the fact that I am a good driver with no previous claims goes unnoticed. I can understand that there is certain criteria when insuring someone, age, risk, convictions, crime rate, etc. But then I realised that the situation was the same for the residents of B2-B12 postcodes, that is probably around 50000 drivers paying overpriced premiums and they cant even share this publicly.
This is when idea formed in my head that an online community could have some effect and bring change, the big companies have lobbying groups, the least we can have is an online community.
I am looking for volunteers, contributors and people who can help me to get this started. If this is something that might interest you and you would like to contribute in some way please get in touch, my email is sead24@hotmail.com.
