Vauxhall Astra H Estate - Cam belt change - Polly10
I recently purchased a Vauxhall Astra H auto estate which has 36,500 miles on clock. The car is ex mobility and has a FSH from dealer , and I am very happy with it. However, I see from the website that HJ recommends a cambelt change every 40,000 miles or 4 years. The car is 3 years old (60 reg) should I be looking to get the cambelt changed at 40,000 miles? How can you tell if it needs it or not?
Thanks

Personally? I would recommend following the dealers advice and changing the cambelt at 40k or four years old - which ever comes first.

The only way you can tell is if the cambelt is cracked but it's sometimes extremely difficult to look at it and in all honesty you really don't want the cam belt to go as it's an extremely expensive job if it does.

Get it changed and your worry free for another 40k miles :)
