Jaguar X-Type 2007 - Pattern parts for a Jaguar - bluenun

In the past I have bought pattern parts for my previous cars like a Rover 820, Ford Escort, Ford Focus.

Are there pattern parts available for a 2007 Jaguar X type and S type or would I need to buy parts from a Jaguar garage?

Have a look on eurocarparts.com or phone a local motorfactors to see if they have ghe pars you want. But i would hazerd a gues that most parts for a x type can be bought as pattern parts not to sure about s type but some parts should be avalabe as pattern parts.

I doubt you'll find quite the range of parts available that you would find for an Escort, i suspect you could replace the entire suspension on an Escort with pattern parts (possibly the whole car), that won't be the case with lower volume cars....or maybe cars with a shorter economic life.

Friction materials water pumps shockers etc should be easily found, but you might struggle with headlights, locks and especially ECU's.

Most of the x type chassis suspension and brakes are lifted from the mondeo estate so should not present too much of a problem with non genuine parts.

Just about every part is available for the x type on ebay either under the jaguar banner or Ford mondeo.

A Mondeo part on a Jaguar X is hardly a "pattern" part!

Anything that is pattern will be cheapish, but a friend scrapping his 2001 car because although in good nick, needs various electronic bits, car worth £1000 max, but cost of bits to put right nearly that from a scrappie and labour charges on top.

Thanks for the replies.

It seems that spares are easier to get for the X type than the S type.
