mazda 3 sports - Dashboard lights off when headlights on - chanlfc

I have a Mazda 3 sports 2006 model, it has auto sensor healights and noticed when going through a tunnel the dashboard lights went off when headlights switched on automatically.

This also occurs when you manually switch on the headlights everytime.

Anyone have any suggestions what to check for please as I dont know what to do?

I would think there is some type of dimming control function on a switch or dash menu.With the lights off,the dash illumination will be at max.

agree with the abiove, there will be a dial that allows you to alter the intensity of this light.
