Mini one 1.4 2008 - Reset brake service indicator - Snakey

I've had the front brake pads replaced on my wifes 2008 1.4 Mini One - the discs and wear indicators were ok so these were left.

When the garage has tried to reset the brake service indicator - it simply stays at 1000 miles - I've also tried myself several times going through the reset procedure but the indicator still shows 1000 miles!

The oild/rear brake/coolant/brake fluid have all been reset by the garage in the last couple of years as these have been done, but this has got them stumped as well.

Is this a dealer only fix or is there a knack to this!

I think you will find that the wear sensors are progressive;so new pads need new sensors.hth

That make sense -the garage seemed to think the sensor was ok as long as it hadn't been 'broken' by the pads wearing down - which is my understanding of how they work. Is this a a new type of sensor that also measures the level of wear? Too clever by half!
