Nissan Micra - Oil Drained From Car - westburry

Hi

I drained the oil from my car a couple of weeks ago.

Is it save to leave the engine sitting for a few weeks without any oil.

I was thinking that maybe after a while the oil that remained in the engine

block may start to dry and cause problems. I'm changing the Timing Chain

and its taking a bit longer than I thought but I should have it sorted by at least next week.

But in the mean time the car is sitting there without any oil.

Is that OK ?

Thanks for you help.

It'll be fine, just don't start it without refilling it, it would be quite easy to forget.

If there was any chance of your engine oil 'drying' sitting cold, it wouldn't last very long in a hot engine. Engine oil is not a drying oil like linseed. All that happens after a few months is that it drains into the sump and the cylinders and other internals become only thinly lubricated. No worries in your case.
