Ford Focus 2 litre diesel Estate 2005 - Sense smart charging light won't extinguish - nipplebleeder

My ford focus 2 litre 2005 diesel estate cars battery sense smart charging light (battery symbol) is illuminated as soon as I switch the ignition but does not extinguish when the car starts. The battery is fully charged. All fuses are have been checked & are okay. Any help would be appreciated.

Testing the smart charge system to make the correct diagnosis is not easy.Alternator and wiring faults can cause the light to remain on,however the system could still be charging.You will need to find a competent auto tech who understands how the system operates and has the correct test equipment.hth

Have you changed the battery recently and did you fit the correct one. Smart Charge is quite fussy about what is fitted. Regards Peter
