Does anyone know what happens to the Mileage if you change the Speedo in a Mk4 Mondeo?

Is the Mileage stored in the ECU?

if it is can the display on the speedo be changed so it displays the correct mileage?

I've seen a similar thread about MK3 Mondeos but I need to know for a MK4.
