Vauxhall Vectra B - fuel tank replacement {second hand} - paulv1

as previously mentioned i've got to replace the fuel tank on my vectra i found a good second hand one and my local garage is quoted me £80. labour to do the job

but what i need to know is it possible to coat the used tank with some type of undersealant to help protect it? when he removes the old tank how hard is it to transfer the petrol inside to the new tank?

I'd have thought the tank would be plastic. What's made the existing one leak?
