We picked up this one year old V60 in March from Stoneacre Volvo Lincoln. The car was immaculate having been a Volvo staff car with 11676 miles on the clock.

3 months of trouble free motoring followed locally in South East London and on Motorways. Our V60 was comfortable, quiet and both of us enjoyed the massive power under our right toe for overtaking.

The boot swallowed two sets of golf trolleys, clubs, cases and paraphanalia.

However last week the first fault occurred. The tailgate would not open; a bit of a problem when the car was full of gear. There is no manual release, this is an all electronic car. Initially the fault was intermittant it wiould unlock after 24 hours but now it has been firmly locked for 2 days.

I take it to Parkside Volvo on Saturday for "diagnostics". I will keep you in touch with developments.

Collos, couldn't you find it in your heart to be helpful, and tell the OP where this switch is to be found?

Parkside Volvo tell me there is no mechanical release on this model.

Anyway when they looked at the car of course it worked perfectly and no error had appeared on the onboard computer.
Two weeks went by with a perfect tailgate, then today once the car was full of golf gear the gremlin struck. So I drove it straight to Parkside Volvo Orpington, where I dragged the service manager out to observe the problem. She confirmed that it was truly stuck. No mechanic was available so its booked in for "investigation" on 21st.

Once I drove it out of the garage the tailgate worked perfectly and is working now.

This could be a long saga. Surprising since the other 3 Volvos I have owned have been perfect and stayed that way throughout the years I drove them.

My 2011 V60 D3 has just had its 2nd year service, and the dealer software update has re-enabled the automatic door locking when you get above 5mph.

This also locks the boot unless you push the master lock/unlock switch on the driver's door, could it be that?

Parkside took the tailgate to pieces and reassembled it. They said it could have been dust on the terminals. Believe that if you will.
Anyway the tailgate, and the rest of the car have worked perfectly since.

I really like the car. Its a D5 but I am only getting about 38 mpg with a mixture of urban driving and motorways.

Never the less the car answers our needs.
