Re: Reply to AP's letter in Telegraph Motoring 25th May 2013.

HJ responded saying:

"In law, the dealer is only liable to buy back the car for the price you paid. He is not liable for any money you might have spent rectifying it."

Given that most dealers refuse to take back and refund on a faulty used vehicle-and if this applies in this case- then the dealer is liable under the Sale of Goods Act to repair the car failing which he is liable to the buyer for the costs of repair.

I feel this should have been made clearer in HJ's response.
