Is it possible to replace my original equipment 'tuner list' CD radio in my 07 2.0 dCi Dynamique with a Cabasse Auditorium Tronic plus 6 disc CD changer. I've read somewhere that the two are not interchangeable - something to do with the wiring?

The Cabasse unit has a seperate amp and the speakers are wired to this nothing is impossible but changing all the wiring makes it one hell of a job ,

Thanks but that sounds far too complicated to me and I suppose the amp is somewhere ridiculous, like under the driver's seat? Do you think there would be any benefit in upgrading the speakers as a compromise instead or do you think that wouldn't make any difference to the sound quality?

On most cars, there's usually a significant benefit in replacing the el cheapo speakers supplied as standard with something of better quality. Take one out. If it's a lightweight, simple object with a thin paper cone, you can do better.

No need to "name and shame", but there's a car I had recently that came equipped with eight speakers. Replacing the cruddy standard main units with decent dual-cone objects and just leaving the standard seperate tweeters disconnected provided a vastly superior sound. "Number of speakers" seems to be the new "number of cupholders" in a car's spec......

I've checked again and my factory fitted head unit is the 'Update List' version not the 'Tuner List'. Does this mean that I could simply change to a Cabasse Auditorium head unit after all.

No

I know that there are several versions of the Cabasse head unit. If I get the one with the single cd player, rather than the multi changer version, does that still have a separate amp? I've read on the Renault forum that the version with the multi changer has the amp etc elsewhere because there's no room in the head unit for it.
