Can anyone tell how to turn off the automatic locking system on a Seat Ibiza TDi? I've checked the manual with no joy

take the fuse out?

By automatic locking, do you mean that the car locks itself after about 30 secs if you have unlocked the car with the zapper, but not opened any doors?
If this is what you mean I think that a Seat dealer will have to re-program the central locking system via the diagnostic computer system.

Sorry i didnt explain myself properly. The automatic locking system engages once you have exceeded 10 mph when all the doors lock automatically. You can disengage them from the inside simply by opening the door, or once the key is removed from the ignition. However, nobody can gain entry to the car unless I unlock the door manualy via the button or by pulling the door handle. It's proving a bit tiresome and i was wondering if anyone has had experience with it. More specifically with turning it off.

Trev,

SWMBO's base Fabia (2002 on an 02) has this facility, and I guess as a close(ish) cousin of the Ibiza the solution might be the same. In the case of the Fabia its a quick job by the dealer to reprogramme the ECU.

No idea what it costs to do.

Has it had an aftermarket alarm fitted? Clifford has an option to auto lock doors after the drivers door has closed. Has caught out many people who've left their keys in the ignition.

DD's right about the Clifford. I have disabled this option precisely because I did not want my car to lock me out, which it attempted to do when I first got it, and I was becoming paranoid about the vehicle having a mind of its own.

Hyundai Santa Fe also has autolocking, which kicks in at 40kph; but this has switch on driver's door

Anti hi-jack facility, only way to change this is for the dealer to change the settings with their diagnostic kit, I have a VW Golf also like this, I know for them to implement these changes it costs about £50, but thats at VW, don't know about Seat. Does your car also unlock only the drivers side with one press of the remote? This can also be changed, so that all doors unlock with one press instead of two.
Hope this helps.

SWMBO's Clio Initiale also locks at about 4 mph, but there is a cancel switch on the centre console.
