Insuring a remapped Range Rover - danbrooking

Hi I have had my Range Rover remapped and am confused about where to go to get it insured. Do any members have any experience of this situation?

I suspect that many act unlawfully and don't disclose it to their insurers - I guess that those that do just obtain quotes in the normal manner but including the remap under "modifications". Not all insurers will agree to cover modified cars.

To be strictly legal you need to inform the DVLA as the output figures will not coincide with the log book.

Most of the insurance comparison engines have a section where you declare the remap as a modification. Although you will find that the number of companies that will quote goes down significantly.
Admiral seem to be remap friendly. Also try specialist insurers/brokers such as Adrian Flux, greenlight Sky Insurance.
Consider joining a range rover owners forum, you will find plenty of owners who have insured remapped cars.

That's the one. I used to own a rubber-nosed MGB on which I had dropped the suspension back to the original ride height. When I insured that with a specialist and declared the suspension mods, they wrote it down as a safety modification and cut the premium.....:-)

A decent broker will do all the work and exploit all the tricks to get the best premium for you.
